Reg Edwards 1947-2025
We are sad to hear of the death of our friend Reg Edwards in January aged 77. He was an extremely knowledgeable historian, contributing to the People of the Potteries book, our own Revealing Voices project and diligently cataloguing all of the Last Bottle Oven Firing tapes. He was very active in his own community, supporting the Hartshill and Harpfields Residents’ Association, HAHO events and the Minton Project walks. He was a PHS member for many years and helped by verifying our accounts for several occasions.
Reg’s funeral took place on Monday 27th January 2025 at Bradwell Crematorium at 12 noon, at which Joe Andrew gave an excelent tribute.
Reg was a regular volunteer and part of the core team who catalogued the Arthur Wood Archive for the Revealing Voices project, listening and making notes on days worth of audio files. Starting in 2016, Reg continued to support the work after the project finished in 2018 and only stopped when the activities ceased during the pandemic. Along with other key participants, Reg was interviewed as part of the project to add new content to the archive.
Recorded on 18th June 2018, Reg talks to Andy Perkin about his first interest in heritage, how his passion developed and taking part in the Revealing Voices project.
